Description

When I was a kid in the 1980s, in my mind there were two definitive versions of the Thing. One was John Byrne's. The other, of course, was by Ron Wilson.
In the pages of Marvel Two-In-One and in Ben Grimm's own solo title, Ron Wilson penciled some amazing stories, really bringing to life the grumpy, cigar-chomping walking pile of orange bricks from Yancy Street.

Even though the Thing was only a member of the Avengers for like five minutes, I really wanted to get a sketch of him by Ron. All these years later, Ron still knocks 'em out of the park. He's gotten even better with age, and it's a shame he doesn't get work in the comic biz any longer. It was great to meet him and get a sketch of Bashful Benjy, the self-proclaimed blue-eyed idol of millions.

Update: now the Thing is back on the team, in New Avengers vol 2. Hopefully he'll stick around longer this time.
