Wonderful example of Frazetta's most beautiful brush inking during the pinnacle period (1953-54) of his career in comics. This page was published by Famous Funnies publications contemporary with his gorgeous Buck Rogers covers and his classic Personal Love stories he did for that publisher.

On this page from Heroic Comics we witness some of Frank's most mature, lush, and inspired comics work. The page exudes pathos amd tension. It doesn't get better than this page!

You wonder what other comic artists felt at the time when they looked upon Frazetta's work--did anyone quit?? I could see how a page like this might convince another artist to just throw in the towel...

You know what takes this page over the top and shows just how skilled Frazetta was? It's the soldier's face that's in silhouette in the second tier where Fritz DID NOT ink that one sliver near the nose leaving a sliver of white there...Frazetta truly was a MASTER!
