Description

Kay Nielsen, a master from The Golden Age of Illustration, returned to the Disney Studio in 1953 and may have finished as Art Director for Sleeping Beauty had it not been for his failing health. He died in 1957 and the job fell to Eyvind Earle who set his styling to the feature finished in 1959. Only about a dozen and a half examples of Nielsen's work on Sleeping Beauty are known to have survived by this writer with the studio owning twelve and the Walt Disney Family Museum with six.
