Description

I was one lucky fan to land on Brian's commission list for the NYC 09 con. I asked him to do Lucy Liu as O-Ren Ishii. It seemed like perfect subject matter for Brian and he really took it all the way. It was amazing to watch this piece unfold over 3 hours. Brian did talk about his style, art, color theory and many other things that really put his work in perspective. I couldn't be happier with the piece. My scanner couldn't do the background color justice. It is a much more aquamarine/greenish blue that my scan shows.

It was also great to meet Brian. I have been a fan for so long and we had talked on emails so many times in the past but nothing beats being there in person.

The best artwork hurts a little in your gut when you see it. This one has me in pain, I love it so much. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy that you got such a great piece that captures the essence of the character, down to the glint in her eyes and freckles on her face, and Sad that no where inside me is the power or ability to create something this beautiful.
