I always loved this series of covers Michael Golden did for Detective before I even knew who Michael Golden was. After I began collecting OA, I saw that I had missed this cover at auction and immediately tried to figure out who had it. It dropped off the map until relatively recently when it popped up on CAF. Luckily, I was able to eventually convince the fine gentleman who owned it to part with it. (thanks Ross!)

This is one of my favorite images of Batman by, in my estimation, one of the finest comic artists who ever set pen to paper. The reason I went after it now was because I spent a few minutes with a couple of my favorite artists (Golden and Bolland) at the recent NYCC and really thought about how I didn't have nice published examples of my favorite characters from either, and that I would have to remedy that as soon as possible.
Here is part of the remedy and it's incredible in person!!
Signed by Golden and also published in Excess: The Art of Michael Golden.

This is now newly back from the framer and can be seen in all it's glory here!!

A true stunner. The half-dozen or so covers he did for Detective at that time are some of the most amazing pieces ever done for comics. Congrats on getting a 'modest' piece to fill your Golden gap!. ;)

While you have a rather impressive collection generally, this is rapidly becoming one of my favorite pieces in it. Just a stunningly realistic Golden Dark Knight in his natural city habitat with the historic flagship Detective logo proudly emblazoned across the top. Congratulations again on a beautiful acquisition!
