DescriptionIkkitousen DD Episode 2 “Awakening of the Devil King”: Sousou Moutoku awakening. >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>> For rockn’roll, upskirt, martial, epic catfight chicks in an uproar, Ikkitousen - Dragon Destiny (Genco Studio 2007) is probably among the best around. The art is pretty sweet anyway, as bubblegum. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This here is a pencil sketch or ‘douga’ on which a production cel (a transparent acetate sheet) was based, in this case a key cel, on which all other sequence cels will have been based. Drawn by hand in pencil on (vellum-like) paper: graphite for black, blue for different shadings and red for whites or some form of light accentuation. On the back the drawing is roughly colored in, presumably for providing a color guide for the cel. There will probably exist about 3 to 8 (sometimes more) pieces similar to this one, since anime consists of drawings in sequence. The number in the top right corner (this one has B A B 1~3 circled) indicates its order in the sequence, the letter stands for the cel’s position in a cel pile-up: on top of a background (usually painted on thick paper), as a second layer (usually 'A'), on top of which a third layer ('B') can go, (slightly different for providing some movement or other), on top of which may follow 'C', etc. The layering of cels is made convenient by the registration holes along the top, ensuring perfect alignment. When anime series are done digitally, often douga and/or cels still get made. These are called ‘rileizu’ or post-production cells. In an anime studio usually work lots of different artists. For this piece all I can say is that director / art director / animation director were respectively Koichi Ohata, Shigemi Ikeda and Rin Shin. The dimensions are standard-sized: approx. 22 x 30 cm or 8.7" x 11.8".Social/Sharing |
