Description

Steve Scott's portion of this commission was started and completed in under a week. I was sent a very fancy prelim for approval by email before the final piece went ahead. All arrangements were made directly with the artist c/o his official website.

Inks were added by the amazing Joe Rubinstein. Joe delivered great inks and great service yet again. The fact that I keep going back to him time and time again should speak volumes as to how highly I think of his work.

I became aware of Steve Scott's art through the consistently enjoyable all-ages Marvel Adventures Hulk series. Issue # 12 of MA:Hulk speaks my language because it features the Hulk, the Thing and other tough guys from the Marvel universe facing off against "the Champion" in a story reminiscent of Marvel Two in One Annual # 7.

I contacted Steve and sent him some general ideas about a new commission featuring the Thing versus "Saguur's monster" (a baddie from a story titled "I Dream of Doom" first seen way back in Strange Tales # 96). It was Steve's idea to have the Hulk as the heroic guest star (and who was I to argue?). He also came up with the futuristic city with the retro costumed populace as the setting.

Needless to say, I love everything about this drawing. My sincere thanks to Steve for his enthusiasm about the subject matter and for the incredible artwork he delivered in no time flat.
