DescriptionJust thanks again to all the wonderful people who helped to make SuperCon weekend such a fun and positive experience. Don’t have plenty of art to show from the con, but it was really more of a social event for me this year. The first day alone was full of great surprises, as I ran into a dear friend from the past who had seemingly dropped off the face of the earth. For years, no one knew what happened this guy and suddenly there he was standing in front of me. Needless to say it was a nice reunion. The other great surprise was having Kent Williams stroll in unannounced and being able to talk to him about the Spidey poster painting of his that I had recently acquired. He seemed quite pleased that I got it and even remembered some of our previous meetings when I picked up art from him before – back in the old, old, days! LOL!Had to leave early on Saturday because it was my sister’s birthday, but came back Sunday and just hung out. Spent most of the weekend at my boy Wade Furlong’s table, right across from my other buddy Mannion. That was just too much fun! But not as much fun as the Sunday dinner with Frank Cho and his crew, and then the marathon art viewing and rap session in Wade’s hotel room afterwards (Frank and his peeps went to check out Star Trek though, so it was just me, Jon, Wade, Steve, and Will). It’s funny when I think about these con dinners. Last year it was our group with Paul Smith, and this year it was Frank Cho. Almost makes me wonder who we’ll end up eating with NEXT year! Anyway, my thanks again to all the people who graciously shared their time and conversation with me. I was completely drained on the short drive home, but in a good way. And believe me, it was all well worth it! See you next year!. Social/Sharing |

Frank Cho's crew consisted of the ever lovely Mara and Harvey Award winning editor (Best Anthology for Popgun), Joe Keatinge.
Unfortunately, no Paul Smith (we missed you, Paul) and no Lounge-Con 2009 this year. The Marriot converted that space to another bar. Wade-Con was a lot of fun. Collecting war stories were passed on, Wade was able to produce an amazing, very delicate sketch for Jon during some clamorous goings-on. And we were able to behold and hold the Spider-Man poster art by Kent Williams. You really need to hold it in order to appreciate it. The piece is definitely deserving of Eric's enthusiasm.

Yeah, that was a pretty sweet sketch Wade produced amidst all the craziness. Now that's what I call concentration! Anyway, I just can't help but imagine how much crazier it might have gotten if we had stashed Wade's and Steve's cigarettes! Can you imagine? LOL! Yep, WadeCon was the best. Free admission and the only Con where all the attendees were also the featured guests! =)

Hey Eric, It was great being able to see you after much too long! And what better to hang than over art and food! Let's not let so much time pass before we get together again! ~;)

I first want to thank both you and Jon for helping make this the best convention experience I have had thus far in my travels. Also to Steve Morger and Wyatt. Brian Peck, Ryan Graff, Steve Mannion, Will King, Frank Cho, Alez Nino, Francisco Herrera, Cheeks, Way-shANK (as you call him) etc etc... and the rest of our cohorts that swung in. It was so amazing to meet Allen Speigel and Kent Williams by sure chance, a once in a lifetime metting for some. The fact that you clowns humor me with this being the wAdE-con is a riot. It was beyond a blast seeing a small fraction of your collection in person and just spending time. I was truly in bliss my friend and I can't thank you enough. You made it all worth it, and next year we are going to have another grand kicked back event. So much else I'm leaving out, but I won't rant. CheerZ my main man!
