Description

The HMS Illustrious (87) was an aircraftt carrier of the British Royal Navy serving in World War II. The insigne was done at the request of then Captain Lord Mountbatten while stopping at the Disney Studio in 1941 on his way to inspect the US. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor. - On 11 November 1940 she was the first carrier in history to launch a major strike against an enemy fleet in a daring attack against the Italian fleet at Taranto.
