Description

Tony DeZuniga Jonah Hex Illustration Original Art (2009). "He had no friends, this Jonah Hex, but he did have two companions: one was death itself...the other, the acrid smell of gunsmoke..." This stunning illustration of Hex by his co-creator Tony DeZuniga was created in mixed media on colored paper. The art measures 12" x 16" and it is in Excellent condition. Signed by the artist at the right.

Beautiful piece! Tony's a great guy & so's his wife Tina equally as charming. I'm a big fan of his art in his Man-God story from Marvel Preview #9. It took me awhile to appreciate Tony's beautiful artwork. Originally I didn't care for his heavy inks on Thor's comic over John Buscema. But once I saw his ink on Marvel's B & W maga of the mid 70's. I was blown away, ironically I think I bought & read every comic that existed from 1967- mid 80's. I never saw or picked up one Jonah Hex comic! My city, Milwaukee,WI must have not carried his comics at all. If so they must have been low ordered & or sold out immediately! I vaguely remember buying comics with his other creation Black Orchard. Thanks for sharing this gem with all of us.

Thanks for your appreciation of Tony's artworks!! For me, Jonah Hex and Phantom Stranger are just one of the best of Tony De Zuniga's great works.

Now that is some vintage bad ass cowboy. Don't know why but reminds me a little of Blueberry in this piece but it's very much Hex. Bravo!
