Ride East Ride West Cover

This is the cover for the original 1947 printing of Ride East Ride West. This book, by Anne Powers, also went by the name Rouge’s Honor. It was reprinted many times. The image is over 12” by 18”, oil on board. The artist is not known to us as of this writing. Funny how you can tell approximately when a cover of a historical novel was made even though the people are supposedly wearing period costume. Did any man look like the guy on this cover anywhere near the time the book is set?
