The new comic featuring the characters suggested by YOUR fan mail!")This is the Original Art for the Cover of ADVENTURE COMICS Presents DIAL "H" FOR HERO #479 (March 1981) by Carmine Infantino and Bob Smith. Following their debut in LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #272 (Feb. 1981), the 2nd incarnation of DIAL "H" FOR HERO (featuring Chris King and Vicki Grant) became the lead feature in ADVENTURE COMICS starting with this issue and lasting through issue #490. The title of the long-running ADVENTURE COMICS was officially changed (in the indicia) to ADVENTURE COMICS PRESENTS DIAL "H" FOR HERO for those 12 issues. The DIAL "H" FOR HERO series featured super-heroes and super-villains created by comics fans! This issue features the one-shot heroes: The Grasshopper, The Doomster (both are featured on the Cover), Megaboy, Sunspot, Ice, Color Commando, The Composite Man, Twilight, Windsong and Captain Electron - created by future comics artist Stephen De Stefano (who later co-created 'MAZING MAN and HERO HOTLINE), Age 14, South Ozone Park, NY! The villains in this issue are The Flying Buttress, G.L.U.N.K., The Red Death and The Silver Fog - created by author / screenwriter Harlan Ellison (R), Age 46, Sherman Oaks, CA! Ah yes, I remember it well. A fun series, and though I never submitted a character entry, it probably helped me and a LOT of people develop an interest in creating their own characters!
