Description

Being Jewish, I've never been one to go in for Christmas-related strips. I had owned this piece, from 12/25/64, for many years, then sold it off. Regret set in. Spirits of Christmas past, present and future visited me. I couldn't eat cheese for a week. Okay, okay, I missed the strip. Thankfully, Roger Clark, all-around good guy and mensch, sold it to me earlier this year. It had take a circuitous route, but it's back home.

C'mon, King Aroo in his jammies? How can you pass that up?

Wonderful Jack Kent art, Rob! Funny, intelligent, well drawn! Want to fall into the cracks of comic strip history? Want to be excluded from skyrocketing prices for original artwork? Draw funny comics! Bud Blake, Paul Murry, even celebrities like Walt Kelly, George McManus and Sergio Aragones - imagine they had drawn superhero or detective comics!! Even the tiniest sketch would be worth more than a complete strip/page is worth today. There is no justice. Well, good for the connoisseurs, collecting artwork for the artistic quality, not for the big names and the mainstream taste...
