Description

During an in-store signing by Ben Templesmith at Laughing Ogre Comics in Lansdowne, VA, I was chatting with the store owner, Gary (from whom I used to regularly buy all my stuff!), and he was talking about Brian Wood being their guest at the 2009 Baltimore Comic-Con. He mentioned that they were also bringing in Rebekah Isaacs, a new up-and-coming artist who was just starting out in the industry, and was drawing Brian's DV8 title from Top Cow. I hadn't seen her work, but I figured it was a great opportunity to get something by a newcomer to the industry (and she ain't hard on the eyes neither!). She was doing these really quick (but not like crappy quick) full-body sketches for $5 (a recession special), and she said she'd done a Ms. Marvel cover so she'd do her for me. The second she declared the picture, she said, "Oh. Ms. Marvel doesn't wear long sleeves." Whoops! I consoled her by reminding her that Ms. Marvel is a female and would undoubtedly have numerous outfits, so she just caught her on a cold day! Great sketch, great price, nice artist!
