Green Lantern Series 4 Issue 1 Page 8

This page took quite a long journey before it settled down in my collection. It was the 1st Green Lantern splash page on eBay for the new series (including Rebirth) back in Jul 05. GL splash pages were trading below $270 during the then past 12 months. I was therefore hesitant to put in a high bid. The final auction price reached $1,280. I did not win in this round. I was not even the 2nd highest bidder. Soon after the auction ended, I was given a second chance offer. I cannot remember if it was a hoax but I had ignored the offer because even if it was real, the price would still have been over $1,000. Apparently the winner was a speculator who tried to sell the piece at a quick profit. He had no luck. Three months later the piece was on eBay again. I put in a 3-digit bid only, way below $1,000. The cover of Issue 1 was sold on eBay in Aug 05 for $2,650. Of course there is no magic formula between the price of a cover and the splash page of that issue. Nevertheless, it still serves as a reference. The chance of winning seemed remote with that kind of bid. However, to my surprise, nobody had put in a higher bid at the last minute and I was the winner ! And here it is. Carlos was the penciller for Series 4 issues 1-3, 7&8.
