Karate Kid by Ernie Chan

When I saw that Ernie Chan would be attending the 2006 FallCon, my jaw dropped. Another artist that worked on Silver Age Legionnaires! Most notably, Karate Kid #1. I brought the issue with to get signed, and as I didn’t have a Karate Kid in the book yet, had him sketch one for me. I would have liked to get a full-fledged sketch from him, but my pocketbook could only afford about a quarter of his sketch costs.

I remember rushing to his table, figuring that there would be a line of people trying to get on his sketch list. He’s done a lot of work in comics, including Conan the Barbarian, The Incredible Hulk, and many others. I was surprised (and a little disappointed in the other fanboys) to find myself able to walk right up to him right away.
