Description
A pencil preliminary for a full colour painting that Dave was working on for a few years prior to his death, but never completed. A version of this piece appears (with a revisedly drawn head for La) in Dave Stevens first Sketchbook. The original is 8 1/2 x 16" on a 14" x 17" piece of artist's vellum. Obtained via a trade with Gentleman Jim D'Amico in March 2005.

Wow, this is the first time I've seen this, Ray. A rare "unstylized" figure with the usual gorgeous Stevens face! Never seen one with "lumps and all." I would have loved to have seen the finished version to compare degree of stylization. Makes me miss him even more. Congrats!

Despite its "academic" setting, one of the most amazing pencil works by Stevens I've ever admired. Gorgeous!
