This piece particularly resonates with my inner collector soul for a few reasons.

First, obviously as for any art that you really want... I missed it a couple of times. But in the tradition of the great hunters (Glen you are an inspiration ;-) with patience and a bit of luck, if you keep looking and looking, in the end you will locate your dream piece and claim it at last... obviously, it can be a little easier when the art appears out of the blue on a dealer web site but that is not the point, right !!

Second reason is that Manning's Tarzan stories where the first comic books I read coming back from an awful long trip and a month away from my family. I will spare you the details but I still remember coming back home and my parents having saved enough to buy me a brand new (small) set of shelves with as many comic books (well, that is French hardcovers versions) as they could afford.

And the fist I picked was Tarzan stories illustrated by Russ Manning and all the bad memories from the trip and month alone just faded away in the mists of the land that time forgot.

I was happy. Just happy. That's what comic books will do: bring back the colors and sounds of happiness.
