Gilbert, Michael T -- Elric of Melnibone GN Title page

In 2002, I corresponded with Michael T Gilbert, and he found this wonderful piece of art for the title page of the deluxe edition of Elric Of Melnibone. There was a void in the center of the page where title and credits were to be added, and the left edge of the page was straight, as if the art had been cropped (which it was NOT) ... where the page was bound into the book. He offered to draw a portrait of Elric in the center, which sounded like a great idea, and when the art arrived, he had ALSO attached a one inch strip of paper to the left edge to add to the art, completing the left edge figures, and giving the whole piece a better sense of balance. What a GREAT thing for him to do, to make a fantastic piece even BETTER!
