DescriptionAfter the Crisis wound down, the Question also appeared in his own DC title. Written by Dennis O'Neil and drawn (mostly) by Deyns Cowan, it defined the Question as an anti-hero in the DCU (I don't know if this is the correct terminology for "anti-hero" and I'm not getting out my 1980's literature book to check. I just like using the terms "anti-hero" "quasi-", and "salsa" to sound sofistomocated). This was one of my favorite comics during the 80's, which is why I started collecting original art from it (once I discovered it was actually possible to get the art from a series). I would still recommend reading this series, at least up to about issue 19. The Question ran for 36 issue plus a few annuals, but like a lot of "innovative" comics, the stories and art suffered later in the series (NOT TO MENTION THE LATE BOOKS!!! THE DEATH NEAL FOR ALL COMICS!!!) Hell, issue #37 of the Question just came out last week!!! The Question has a special place in my heart, being the character that first introduced to collecting original comic art. Apparently, he didn't have a special place in DC's heart (or lungs) though, as he was killed off in the pages of "52" from smoking too much (what is this, an after school special)? Some rumors have circulated that DC had it in for both the Kevin Maguire JLA and Charlton characters, since so many of them ended up taking a dirt nap during "Infinite Crisis" (the main example, being of course, the Blue Beetle"). DC also replaced several of it's charcters with new "politically correct" characters (or at least that is another theory) to add diversity to the DC universe. A few examples: Crispus Allen as the new host for the Spectre (Infinite Crisis #4), Firestorm redesigned by Jason Rusch and Professor Martin Stein (Firestorm #22) , Jaime Reyes as the new Blue Beetle (debuted in costume Infinite Crisis #5), and Ryan Choi, as the new Atom (Brave New World one-shot).
