Description
hello, and welcome to my Easter Egg edtition of page 23. An Easter Egg is usually a software term for a hidden feature or novelty that the programmers have put in their software. In general, it is any hidden, entertaining thing that a creator hides in their creation only for their own personal reasons. One of the joy's of collecting original comic art is discovering the hidden items which may have not made it into the published version of the art. These can include message between the writers, artists, inkers, colorists, editors, and pubishers for producing the final printed page. It can also include changes in the original art and the final published version, addition or test drawings on the borders and back of the page, alternate art pages which may have not made it into the final comic, and in the featured page, actual easter eggs and hidden items. If you compare the original art to the actual printed page, this original art page contains five easter eggs, some hidden, some not:

1) Neil Armstrong sucks!!!

2) The Watcher is ...rty bald (I'm not even sure what ...rty is the end for)!!!

3) The Phoenix Egg (HEY, A LITERAL EASTER EGG) is much bigger in the printed version to hide.....

4) The Moon's not made of green cheese, its MADE OF BEER!!!

The fifth easter eggs is the original comic art collecting tip for this issue, the last page, splash page. Many comics end with one of these, and they are often very cheap (This one only cost me $70.00, compared to $200.00-$300.00 for the rest of the pages from this issue). These often turn out to be easter eggs as well, you just don't know if yet. I have bought many of these cheap last page, splash pages from the end of a story line. As the next story line progresses, many of these turn out in the final analysis to be "historical" pages, thus increasing their value.
