DescriptionHere we have a wonderful item from the estate of Carl Barks. It’s a collection of 21 gift sketches and signatures from Italian comic book artists and animators, and two photographs which show the artists gathered for a ‘Thank you’ letter. In 1994, after the death of his wife Garé, Carl Barks took his first trip abroad at the age of 93. His whistle-stop ‘Grand Tour’ took him to 11 European countries. In Europe, particularly in Scandinavia, Germany, and Italy his comics have become phenomenally popular, national institutions read and re-read by generations. During this tour, the Duck master obtained hundreds of gift drawings from comic book artists expressing their gratitude and veneration.
