Description
This is fine art at its best. Kent did this painting for Criterion Films for their re-release in 2009 of Rashomon, an Akira Kurosawa masterpiece, and known among film aficionados as one of the greatest films of all time. The film is one of my all-time favorites, and when I saw this painting posted in Kent's site, I immediately e-mailed him and asked if it was for sale. The rest, as they say, is history.

Oil and encaustic on linen mounted on wood panel attached to distressed wooden beam, 48 x 54 inches.

Holeeeyyyy crap! Saw the posters go up on Kent's site back when he first posted about it in his blog. This is such a major score! Congrats.

That's not fair Jaime. You're making us all look bad.

I recognize this of course but had no idea it was done by Kent Williams. Interesting choice of materials.

That is a very interesting visualization of "the Rashomon effect." I imagine that this painting bears repeated viewings.

Wow!!! I also emailed Kent about this but much too late. Congrats on owning an incredible piece and please let me know if you ever decide to part with it!

Never saw the poster and never saw this painting on his website, but I did buy the Criterion DVD and saw all the drawings he did for the DVD case.  I emailed Kent about them, but of course they were all sold.  This is an amazing piece, but there was just something about those b&w drawings that I really liked.

Actually have 3 of the drawings of Kent from Rashomon.
