Kevin Nowlan: BPRD The Black Goddess #1 cover prelim reference pic

I dabbled these images (prelim pencils - as found on mr Nowlan's blog / finished cover / with titles) into a reference pic, to the prelim I got in this gallery, to see if such would be signifying anything.

Like maybe how or why this cover art came to be as it is? You tell me if it does, you tell me if Kevin Nowlan - who designed the Hellboy title letters - will be knowing cover layout & design? I sort of think he does :-) .

Although cover layout & design might also be a team-effort among artist and publisher in some way? All I can say is I always think it cool when cover pictures without titles or "sans type" seem to be missing something. As if finished covers are really made to be working, as they are, if they are.
