This was meant to be mine. It's not that I'm a huge Sgt Fury fan. But, I am a fan of many things 1968. And I'm a fan of Dick Ayers.

This artist took the time, way back then, to shoot a letter cross country to a fan and included this sketch of Fury. I love that it was done in 1968 with Ayers at his prime. While being just a quick sketch ... you get a real sense of his hand and his ease. This was probably effortless for him ...but, there's a lot of detail.

Of course, I've been seeing this on ebay for over a year. I usually wait till the last second to bid on stuff. And so, I missed this item ... over and over. I saw it listed at least 5 times and even wrote the seller but, he insisted on re-auctioning it! I was the only bidder.
