Sandman Mystery Theatre Issue 23 Pages 4 & 5 Title Spread Davis Locke

The Davis and Locke collaboration on the Dr Death storyline produced a unique look for the series with Locke scratchy elongated style giving the story a haunted willowy look while retaining Davis’s typical brutal realism and rich details. The title splashes of the series are always a particular treat and the top panel in this one a typically nice example, great background details, lovely texture on the gas and lots of the Sandman in action integrating a suspect, check out the brickwork and the original long mask Sandman, harder to draw but certainly more visually evocative.
