My latest acquisition from Mr. Jonathan Wayshak. Initially, I had to deal with some redundancy issues because I had already acquired a Harley & Joker piece from him at WonderCon earlier this year. But when I read the title of the jpg file he sent me, I realized that what initially seemed to be another Joker/Harley piece was in actuality a Harley and CLAYFACE piece! Not that the piece wasn’t cool enough to begin with, but knowing that it was Clayface tormenting Harley with clay replicas of Joker’s head made it even MORE cool.

The timing of the piece was interesting too. He sent me the email TWO DAYS before San Diego! Luckily, the price was well within my budget and I was able to secure it without putting too much of a dent in my con budget. Since we are both local, I thought Jon would want to take care of the transaction before SDCC, but he told me he wanted to take the piece to the show to display at his Small Press table. So we just hooked up at the show and I finally got to see the piece in person for the very first time. I didn’t take it with me until I left Saturday afternoon, so at least he was able to display it every day except Sunday.

My thanks, of course, to Jonathan for his friendship and for allowing me to purchase some of his amazing works. I know he gets personally attached to his stuff and doesn’t really sell a large majority of it, so it means a lot that he trusts me with his precious creations. Oh, and I almost forgot, Jon also threw in the prelim for this piece which I will be posting at a later date. Thanks buddy! I’m already looking forward to my next Way$hak masterpiece!

This guy's stuff is way off the hook--bizarre, funky, chaotic. I love it!

This is otherworldly. unreal style that seems to augment the look of Eric Powell exponentially. Wow.

Hmm, not sure about Powell. If you study a larger sampling of Jon's work (go check out his website), you'll probably get a better idea grasp of his influences. I can see Siekiewicz, I can see some Bisley, I can even see Kent Williams and others of that ilk. But Powell seems more cartoony in nature and certainly has a heavier line weight in his drawings. Jon's lines are also sharper and more abrupt, whereas Eric's lines have more of a flow.

VERY nice buddy! Wayshak is like a Simon Bisley-Sam Keith love child, hahaha!
