DescriptionBattle page from 1963 Amazing Spiderman 8 page 3 from the six page ASM back up story.Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four. Nine gorgeous panels featuring Spidey in battle with The Human Torch. One of the earliest and best Spider-Man pages you will ever see. I could barely pay the rent back in 1997 when I purchased this page for what was back then a King's Ransom. I'm very humbled to have this piece of history as the crown jewel of my collection. In my gallery I have separate images of Panels 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9 for your viewing pleasure. Social/Sharing |

Please permit me the privilege of being the first (of, I suspect, many) to say an awed "WOW!" to this page.
Kirby AND Ditko on a page with Spider-Man AND an FF character... such stuff as dreams are made of!

I agree 100% that these 2 legends working together is indeed a joy to behold. The large size art and spacious panels of the time period allowed these mega talents to blow the roof off artistically. Again thank you***

What an amazing page. And for the sacrifices you did in 1997, you deserve to take a bow (just like Spidey did in panel 1)!

I'm only just caught up with this posting but I remember that Spidey parachute scene very well from way back when. And the dialogue as well. This is a huge dose of nostalgia.

Oh, boy! You should be opening your own museum with that page as a centerpiece! I still have my kid goosebumps reappearing when I re-read that scene!... "He floats through the air with the greatest of ease..." Always wondered what was the tune to that song, though...

You'll get a big kick out of it.

Not only an extremely cool early page but I'm guessing this is the only issue where you can see Kirby draw Spidey inked by Ditko? Simply love it!

I think you have wonderful collection, Michael! I think, honestly, if you got rid of every single page you had BUT this one? I'd STILL say you had a wonderful collection because this one has EVERYTHING you want all in one piece. This has always been my favorite Spidey-Torch "battle" and you've got a great page of it. An absolute page to be cherished and the very definition of what a "grail" is!

When you think of pairings of great artists, many of them are spectacular -- Eisner/Fine, Adams/Wrightson, Swan/Anderson, Colan/Everett, etc. But no combo has two artists quite so legendary, quite so iconic as Kirby and Ditko. A rare gem!

It's the perfect collaboration between the two giants of Marvel's silver age. Kirby doing his own FF creation in a Ditko ASM strip. If memory serves me right, Conrad Eschenberg once owned the complete story.

Thank you Terry my friend. After I bought this Conrad said, "when you get tired of this one kid bring it back to me and I'll get you in to another page." I told Conrad, "There's nothing I will ever want more then this page." Conrad laughed and said, "everybody gets bored eventually and wants something new." Yes Conrad won the six page story at Sotheby's and broke it up starting with 2,3,4...and eventually 5 and 6. Then finally the splash.
