Description

An alternate cover concept, featuring Miraclewoman, that John created prior to the final version of the cover of Miracleman #12. About the concept, John said, "That particular MW cover idea was actually based on a Virgil Finlay illo which had more or less the same idea (girl in a giant test tube/glass cylinder kind of thing) -- obviously classic pulp-era kind of imagery, which we played around with a bit in that story. I probably did the sketch after talking to Alan about that issue but before seeing the script as Alan described the unit a bit differently (laying on a lab bed with a bubble dome over her head). And of course, she had her outfit ON!" (The #1 reason this cover wasn't given the go-ahead). I like this version - it fits the feel of the story well and it's interesting to see Totleben's initial idea. This art is approx. 9 3/4" x 13".
