DescriptionThis page very nearly did not make it home safely. I purchased it from Steve Mannion at the Big Apple show in early October. Afterward, I was walking around the second floor of the Penn Plaza Pavilion. I put my stuff down next to a pillar so I could rest a bit... and this page of artwork fell right down a narrow crack between the floor and the pillar!!! Obviously I was upset and really pissed off. I had no idea if I would ever be able to convince the Hotel Pennsylvania maintenance people to pull up the tile floor and search in the space between the two floors for the artwork. Feeling very ridiculous, I went back to Steve's table and told him the whole crazy story. He felt bad, and sold me the preceding page of the issue for a really reasonable price, just in case I wasn't able to rescue the first one. Steve's a really good guy like that. That's also why he wrote "2nd time's a charm" when he signed it. Anyway, after several phone calls and a couple of return visits to the Hotel Pennsylvania, I was actually able to convince them to search for the missing page. So, a month later, here it is at last! Whew!!! Moral of the story: be VERY careful when handling your original artwork!Social/Sharing |

This is practically a grail worthy tale. I think Steve would be honored by your persistence.

What a story!! My God, I would have been a wreck if that happened to me. I'm really glad you managed to get it back. And a shoutout to Steve for hooking you up with another page.

Great story, Ben. And a great page! I'm glad you were able to retrieve it. A cautionary tale for us all.
