Description

Don Glut was a fellow member of the Chicago Fantasy Collectors Club that met in Joe Sarno’s basement in the 1960’s. As such I followed his career and especially enjoyed the “Glut” verse he created with a number of series of sword and sorcey and just plain sorcery /soft horror comics at Gold Key. This is a particualrly striking painting by Jesse Santos with Dr. Spector confronting Frankenstein. Santos is one of those underrated artists whose use of color and composition created some eyepopping covers for the Gold Key adventure line.
In spite of being low rent Conan and Dr. Strange clones the Santos covers were striking, the interior work quite modern and the stories fun.
