Description
One of my favorite pieces by Frank, and I was thrilled when I had the opportunity, and the funds, to purchase it! Frank Frazetta's magnificent ink drawing of Tarzan attacking Numa the lion, was intended for publication in Canaveral Press's 1962 release Tarzan and the Castaways, but the drawing was misplaced and never delivered to the publisher, and of course never saw print in the book. If I ever had a 'holy grail' piece, this is it...Frank told me it was 'one of my best ones!'. ..Frank, it is one of ANYBODY'S best ones. I bought this from Russ Cochran, who said simply '...it doesn't get any better than this...' It is a masterpiece of 20th century illustration.

NO one can't beat frank's brushwork. frank is light years ahead of other brush masters like dave stevens, tim vigil, alex raymond,etc...congrats on obtaining the crown jewel of your collection. my only suggestion is:if you ever sell it,give Ellie a shot at buying it back first. this piece should be in frank's museum eventually.

The Canaveral Plates are the best B&W pieces I've ever seen! I've had that beautifully printed portfolio for years, and never get tired of looking at it. I'm SOOO jealous you have one of the best ones on your wall! Congrats!!

Those Canaveral Tarzan illustrations are incredible. On those pieces, Frank performed magic with a brush. If there's ever been finer brush inking, I haven't seen it.

HI.
Every time I see Frazetta's pen and ink I wonder why did he ever started painting.

Not that this amazing and historic piece needs it, but it's also the cover to the upcoming Frazetta Sketchbook that's being released this December (2012). Congrats Rob.

2013 has been my year to finally get acquainted with ERB and I have been plowing through his books non-stop. I've not seen an illustration that better sums up Tarzan in all his might than this. Absolutely phenomenal!!!
