Description
This exceptionally rare "Finished & Final" cover painting by Harvey Kurtzman features the “1998 Outer Galactic Comic-Con” and shows a typical fanboy holding a copy of “Action Comics #1" as alien girls surround him. Other Comic-Con attendees wonder “How Come He Gets All The *Nerdles?” Asterisk at bottom explains "Nerdles" means "Girls". The signs at the Comic-Con read “Rare Hey Looks! Cheap/Get Your New 3,000 Pg. Price Guide/We Buy And Sell Earth, Mars, Saturn Comcs/H. Kurtzman Here!” Kurtzman signature is as usual “Kurtz” with stick figure "man" representing the last part of his name. Harvey Kurtzman was originally commissioned in 1981 by Robert M. Overstreet to render this "completed" painting to be used as the cover to "The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #12" but was ultimately never used, but instead was eventually published as the front cover to “Overstreet’s Advanced Collector #1” magazine published in Summer, 1993 which makes this humorously stunning cover painting Harvey Kurtzman's "Final Published" work of art. The painted artwork differs slightly as seen on "actual" front cover to "Overstreet's Advanced Collector #1" as is evident in the photo pictured below for comparison. (10/3/24 to 2/21/93)
