Ed Tadiello is a leading cover artist of our time, over 250 covers as well as extensive other work. Since I don't read romance novels, his main claim to fame to me is his Angel designs. In fact, the check I used to buy this had one of his designs on it.
Neither I nor the seller had any idea which book this was for. The image is oddly familiar to both Susan (my wife) and I. It looks like someone is going to get something for Christmas.
The scan is the seller's and doesn't do the piece justice. For one thing, it is huge, 18" by 24", magnificently colored and done on heavy hard board. The picture of me at home holding it, shows its size. I am guessing about the kind of paint used.
The artist kindly found and gave ma a cover flat for this piece which is below. The title is Upon a Midnight Clear, obviously a reference to the Christmas carol but, interestingly, omitting, "It Came." This, like my other Tadiello, is from the "Windswept" series, which apparently released a new novel every week or more. This one's story doesn't sound so bad, in fact it sounds a lot like The Bodyguard, a movie that came out later. Ed doesn't recall the name of the model but remembers being very taken with her.
