I confess, romance novel covers are a guilty pleasure of mine. The ones that show some incredibly hot lady in heat are the closest thing to the salacious paperback covers of a bygone age. Unfortunately, I can only indulge this in passing. My wife doesn’t read them, I’m certain that after being forced to read six pages, I’d be begging for it to stop and I don’t want to be seen cruising the romance section of the local bookstore.
The best romance artists are really spectacular and paint some of the best GGA ever, albeit with some guy in frame. Ed Tadiello is one of those and this is a prime example. This is the cover to Loving a Good Old Boy whose story description seems to confirm what I just said about reading six pages. Ed was kind enough to send me cover flats for both of my Tadiello paintings, even though I didn’t buy them from him.
Interestingly, they cut the picture to make it look like the lady, modeled by Sandy Colasimo (spelling may be off), in addition to having her neck guzzled and her blouse pulled at, has her legs on either side of the titular good old boy. Incidentally, if you read the plot description and look at the original painting, their entire relationship up that time consisted of her having car trouble and him offering to help. What a tart!
