Description
This was a painting, I have wanted to do for some time. I only wish I could have added a few more artists .. but I was running out of space. So I limited it to those fantasy and pin-up artists who have influenced me the most. This painting was done entirely freehand with a #1 Loew & Cornell liner brush in acrylics.. no pencils or pens. Over one hundred hours to complete. I did take a few liberties with some of the planes and perspectives as well as the lighting to enhance and show off the art, but with every intention to do make each artist`s representation as accurate as possible. The art is acrylics on illustration board and measures "20 x "24. Thanks again to all those artists who let me show off their work while doing mine and to Burne Hogarth for borrowing his title. Dynamic Anatomy - an homage to all the great artists who have inspired me. Frank Frazetta , Alphonse Mucha , Boris Vallejo , Joe Jusko , Gil Elvgren , Barry Windsor Smith , Michael Whelan , Alberto Vargas , Dave Stevens , Olivia De Berardinis , Steve Hanks , Neal Adams , Ken Kelly , Manuel Sanjulian , Maxfield Parrish , Adam Hughes , Jeffrey Jones , Michael Kaluta , Berni Wrightson , the Brothers Hildebrandt , Jim Warren , Hajime Sorayama , Roy Krenkel , Richard Corben , Christos Achilleos , Patrick Nagel , Don Maitz , Dorian Cleavenger , John Buscema , and Burne Hogarth . Thank You one and all !
Very, very, nice work! I don't know which is more impressive, the model's obvious attributes or the amazing library of art books! I love the tiny flap of loose skin on her left elbow and the wrinkles on her left thumb. Nice attention to detail. But in terms of scale, she's either very tiny, or these are the largest editions of these books I've ever seen! LOL
When I first went into your gallery and saw this as a small Image, I thought it was just a photo and so I looked around and then decided to open this one up and was shocked when I realized that it's a painting! This is Fantastic!!! I own most of these books also and you did an Amazing job on this piece! Hmmm, I don't have one of her watching over my books though..........
thanks everyone for your comments.. I actually considered doing a similar painting of my studio which is wall to wall art and cluttered like an antique shop ( girl not included ), but that would take a year to complete.. lol
" What a WONDERFUL piece (and I'm flattered to be included)!

Thanks Joe! Your approval means a lot to me. I got that ERB art book from you way back when at SDCC and your work still amazes and inspires me, as evidenced by the new Dejah Thoris painting!
Had to do a double-take in this... At first I thought someone has taken a photo of a statue in front of their bookshelf... If this was the effect you were looking for, you achieved it and then some... Incredible!!!

thanks Joseph... usually I`m never quite satisfied with the finished work, but this time the final effect was better than I hoped for... this made it worth all the work I put in.
