Description

"Reunited and it feels so Good " is the theme of Green Lantern Issue 121 which features a Green Lantern and Jade team -up. I have to say I always liked the idea of Jen and Kyle as a couple. They are both creative : the artist and the photographer, They are both are next generation products of the Green Lantern legacies . This was a relationship that had a lot of potential.But they faced a lot of obstacles along the path of true love.

The Legion of Superheroes version of on / off couples like Kyle and Jennie is of course : Supergirl and Brainiac 5. They don't let little things like the Crisis on Infinite Earth's, Legion re-boots , Alternate Universes and timelines or even Death and Time Trapper/ John Byrne Pocket Universes get between them. Last years epic storyline " Last Stand on New Krypton " opened the door again for Brainy and Kara .One of the issues from that storyline was Supergirl Issue 52 . The interior pages were drawn beautifully by Ivan Rodriguezwho started to reconnect the current incarnations of Supergirl and Brainiac 5 together in DC continuity. I as a Legion art fan hunted down Legion pages from that issue for my collection. I found the art in Spain but also in the process found a really nice guy who when he found out about my Re-Legion project offered since I was buying the pages to do a cover as well as a gift.

I sent him an image of Kara's last pre-Crisis adventure with Brainy in Tales of the Legion Issue 314 and 315. Miki Annamanthadoo , a legend in Legion Collecting Circles (do yourself a favor and check out his gallery on CAF..it is so cool ) has the most amazing page from that story which I love. Although Miki A.has let me ( albeit with armed guards present :-) ) view it in person several times over the years , I know it will never leave his hands (at least not willingly ) .

It was Ivan who suggested that the joy of reunited friends and potential soul-mates be the subject of his cover. And it is beyond anything I ever imagined. I love the original Terry Shoemaker page (still hoping Miki ) but this has found a special place in my collection. Ivan is a gentleman, a great artist and just a man with a kind heart.

Kara's dialogue to Brainy sums up just how I feel when I get a chance to slip away from this crazy world and be reunited with my 31st Century friends..Reunited and it feels so good does not just apply to Kyle and Jade, Brainy and Kara but to us all...so star-crossed lovers take heart and enjoy a re-Legioned Green Lantern

Thanks..this one is special. I have several other Brainiac 5 / Supergirl pieces in the works but it was a toss up should I post this in my Re-Legion Gallery or My Grail Images Gallery.

Thanks.. for the kind remarks .I was just touched by Ivan's kindness to someone who he has never met..gives you hope the the optimistic goodness and vision of the world which attracts me to the 31st Century and the Legion ; really does have its roots in our crazy world

Me too and that Ivan was drawing them on a monthly basis..he really captured the spirit and rich history of these two characters...
