Bushmiller: Sluggo's False Advertising, 1971

The master at work. The subtlety with which Sluggo is positioned in the frame gives this one a subtle rhythm, and the gag, of course, is perfectly executed. Bushmiller made a change in the first panel: Sluggo's sandwich board originally said "LUMBER FOR SALE" with a street address I can't quite make out; the changed lettering is pasted on. Otherwise, there are only a couple of tiny dabs of white paint corrections.
