Description

When 20 year old Raymond Crawford Ewer arrived in NYC on October 3, 1908, he was met by his friend Randall Thoms, who he knew from his days at the San Francisco Call. The day Ewer arrived, he sent this wonderfully illustrated postcard back to the guys in the Art Department at the S.F. Call. Ralph "Pot" Yardley was a longtime cartoonist at the Call. Pictured on the illustrated side of the postcard is a wonderful drawing of Thoms, drawing away. Apparently Ewer stayed with Thoms the first few days of his time in NYC, hence the referece to "Hostelery".
