DescriptionThis piece is so amazing. The detail and power of this piece is terrific. I think Bermejo brings a refreshing, new and believable redesign to a character that has been drawn by so many artists. He definitely put his unique stamp on Batman and I think its one of the best. Well, I just discovered this is not the original cover to Bermejo's Batman: Noel. It is what Lee based the new cover on. I also uploaded a pic of the cover I "borrowed" from Amazon.Social/Sharing |

No doubt it's gorgeous; but where's the rest of it? Isn't this the right half of the up coming wraparound cover for his Batman: Noel book? http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H0Gh-dDiwPE/TjLMTcjZfRI/AAAAAAAAAKs/CV8WGf4Ffr0/s1600/BatmanNoel.cover.FINALlow.jpg

I had never seen that image before. I looked at my piece and the one in your link closely and they are almost identical. The tree on the right hand side is relocated and the cape covers a bit more of the statue in my piece than in the piece in the link and there are seams in the costume on his abdomen that are not present in my piece. He may have redrawn it--although it is so identical as to make that unlikely. I think it is more likely he took my image and digitally altered it.

Obviously he really liked what he'd done with this piece, (and what's not to like?!) to revisit it so faithfully and then expand on the scene to the left of this original image. I'd hesitate to call this master piece a prelim; but it looks like you have yourself an earlier inspiration for his Batman: Noel wraparound cover! Congrats!

Congrats!I just did a search for the book and on Amazon they have a pic of the cover and it's identical to my piece http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Noel-Lee-Bermejo/dp/1401232132. Guess it's now a published cover. Sweet!!

Okay, I, just gonna have to point out how incredible it is that you have managed to collect a theme of images that create so much consistency while being so unrelated. Your duration of pieces is a masterclass of collecting.

I've had this favorited for a while, time to say that it's up there with my favorite Batman pieces on CAF! A masterpiece by Bermejo!
