Bone Original art from Special Edition set by Jeff Smith

Original art from the Bone Special Edition box set. When I heard about this item a few months ago I couldn't wait to order one. Having an original, finished piece of art by Jeff Smith from Bone is a dream come true. There are only 50 of these out there. The image is the same on all of them but I asked Jeff about the process and this is 100% original. He had a base image which he lightboxed in pencil on the paper he was going to use. Then he inked over the original pencils and then sent them on to have them watercolored by the series colorist.

My kids love this series. We have worn out a copy of the giant black and white book and have also almost gone through a series of color copies as well. When they look back at their youthful reading later in life, Bone will have left its mark and so getting a piece like this framed and on our wall would be a great thing. I have also tried to get a sketch by Jeff for each child so they have something individually from him to keep down the road.

I think Bone can only be compared to Disney in its current importance to kids. For me, getting a piece of art from Bone like this is almost the equivalent of getting an original penciled, inked and colored Calvin and Hobbes piece. Not an opportunity I was going to miss.
