Description

I know some of you may read the title and think I'm referring to the God-Awful 2009 movie. While I can appreciate seeing Cobra Commander brought to life by Joesph Gordon Levitt so well - it can't make me forget how bad that movie was. But I'm also referring to the original 1987 movie - which also sucked

When first watching the movie again some years back I forgot all about the Cobra "Emperor" Serpentor and his rather ridiculous costume. But besides him commanding over one of my favorite fictional leaders - the movie redefined GI Joe to more like "He-Man" or "Thundercats" where a fantasy element was added. This being "Cobra-La" which even on the DVD commentary - the creators didn't want to keep this name for the new bad guys. While the original series did have fantastic elements such as dinosaurs and exploding crystals - it didn't have the ridiculous feel that the 87' movie had.

But my rant has gone on far enough. Richard Ortiz is the artist and is a fantastic cover artist on the "Lady Death" series. I managed to get him at a good time and got him to do this commission for me. What I asked for was, "Cobra Commander sitting on the Cobra Throne with a sexy Baroness." Baroness done beautifully I might add. And again the thought on this is - if I would have written either GI Joe movie - this is what I would pay to see. Hope everyone enjoys. Cheers!
