Page 003: After getting the sketch from Don Rosa, I discovered that a line was starting to form for George Perez�s appearance in 20 minutes. As he was one of the main people I wanted to meet while at Dragon*Con, I decided to stand in line and wait. Now standing and waiting for something is pretty difficult when you�re with a six-year old. So I decided that I would fund her first paid sketch.

I figured this would be a great opportunity for my daughter Amethyst to get a sketch of her namesake � Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld. I knew that George had worked on the series, doing one of my all-time favorite covers � the one with Amethyst riding a Pegasus (which I had him autograph). George was happy to draw Amethyst for Amethyst. He said he�s done sketches of Amethyst before, but this was the first time he did it FOR Amethyst.

On a side note, thank you to the people in line that held our spot for the quick bathroom break!

How wonderfully delightful!! I remember you announcing your daughter's name a while back, and I totally went "awwwwwww" when I saw this sketch...Amethyst obviously has an awesome daddy :)
