Judging from other commentary on this gallery, one might assume that my comic book heart throb when I was a pre-teen was either Betty or Veronica. No, it was the grown up version of Lana Lang as done by Kurt Schaffenberger. Here is a rare glamour shot of Lana done by the great KS in 1983, looking even better than she did in the halcyon days of the Lois Lane title.

The actual page is tucked into the space of Lana's dialogue balloon, reflecting the relative importance of the image of Lana to that of the rest of the page in my decision to buy it. It's true, I actually bought a whole page just for one half of one small panel. Note how Shaffenberger's pen is so precise that the image is still beautiful and virtually flawless when blown up to several times its original size.
