Description

This is an extremely rare test color guide hand colored by Katsuhiro Otomo himself. This was one of a select few pages that was done to give the Akira comic book colorist Steve Oliff an example on how Otomo wanted the look of the book to be colored. Hand-colored by AKIRA creator Katsuhiro Otomo. I obtained this from Steve Oliff directly.

In colorist Steve Oliff's own words:

“Even before I was chosen to work on the book, Otomo had worked out some rough color schemes and concept ideas about how he wanted the coloring on AKIRA to look. So he began coloring the black and white printed edition by hand to get an idea. But the colors bled on the newsprint, and he was unable to be as precise with the colors as he wanted. Also, he was unable to make any notes. So he then printed out large copies to color with marker. And those were given to me.”

Thanks Jeff! I was shocked when Steve Oliff showed me each of the pages Otomo hand colored for him to use as guides. Oh man, I should of bought more 😭 I'm happy to have gotten a bike scene however.
