This issue is Part 1 (of 3) of Gold Key's adaptation of the "Buck Rogers" Pilot Movie which played in theaters across the U.S. and Canada six months prior to the premiere of the TV series.

"Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" aired for two seasons on NBC (1979-1981) with a total of 37 episodes produced.

NOTE: Buck Rogers #1 (Oct. 1964) was a one-shot - 15 years later, Gold Key continued the numbering for the ongoing Buck Rogers comic book. The comic book lasted for 16 issues but due to an editorial mishap issue #10 was never published and the number was skipped over.
