(May 2012) This cover is penciled by the superbly talented David Finch and inked by the very talented Richard Friend. Such a powerful image of Batman doing battle with Bane. I absolutely love Batman's facial intensity. An added kicker is that Bane is the main villain in the Batman Rises movie. Special thanks to David for parting with this piece and to Meredith for making the transaction as easy as can be.

Wow, John! What a superb Batman cover! And Bane too! Hey, where do you go from here!? I also have to say that having seen this breathtaking cover in person, the scan does not even do it justice! The detail in Finch's pencils is incredible and the inks by Richard Friend are deep, dark, and riveting! Congrats again!

With covers like these, Finch is making a case for cementing himself in the pantheon of all-time great Batman artists. Based on the incredible number of Finch-drawn commissions, head shots and sketches of Batman that had surfaced while he was working at Marvel, it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out that if Finch ever left Marvel, his destiny was to draw Batman at DC. Well, that day has come, and despite incredibly lofty expectations, Finch's work on the caped crusader has exceeded the hype. This cover is an example of Finch at his absolute best. The fact that you have Batman in a conquering pose and one of the most famous Bat-villains (who will be in the next movie) complete the trifecta. Congratulations on a Finch-tastic cover acquisition!

I really think Finch's work on Batman is some of the best superhero stuff out there. This is just a fantastic piece on so many levels. Dave has really hit his prime with Batman and Friend's inks are just very clean and slick which really elevate the quality of the piece. congrats
