Froehlich, an older artist who died in 1949 shortly after completing his last Classics Illustrated assignment, Black Beauty. The Cellini autobiography is the most concretely rendered of the artist's Gilberton efforts and provides a robust visual counterpart to the Florentine goldsmith's lively, self-aggrandizing memoir of life in Renaissance Italy.
