In keeping with the original April 2011 theme, "Your Favorite Convention Sketch", I'd say this is my favorite.
This is my very first convention sketch and original piece.
I went to one of the old NYC Creation Conventions with 2 friends, I had earlier seen Mike in one of the rooms. My first time ever to see Mike. He had some really great art from his story in the classic Batman Spectacular and the Fortress of Solitude pages from the DC's Superman / Flash treasury size reprints, they sure looked like Adams art.
Anyway my friends and I were going to see Neal Adams talk. Also a first time to see one of the greats. So as the room as filling up, I decided I had to go back and get a sketch from the great Mike Nasser. He didn't have a sketchpad but he got a page from another artist and flipped him a quarter. He was charging $10. As he was drawing, it was turning out so great that Mike said he might have to charge double but almost immediately said he was just kidding.
So I returned to my friends with my art bounty and we listened to Neal Adams. However, the only thing I really remember is that someone asked Adams who was his favorite character. The answer was "Batman's cape".
I have more of Mike's great art in my Nasser CAF gallery.
