What a striking splash! The minimal background details really make Subby pop. Craig did a lovely inking job here. Big congrats, Carlos!

My Friend, This is My Grail Piece! I bought this issue at a newsstand in DC. As soon as I opened the cover and saw this splash, my heart jumped. My friends were collecting Spider-man at the time and I was the only kid on the block buying Sub-Mariner. I took my issue around the neighborhood showing this splash as if I drew it. Enjoy!

I've always thought some of the best work Buscema did at Marvel was his stuff on the Sub-Mariner series. It's a crime that it's toatlly overlooked these days. It was really incredible.

From one of my favorite Doctor Doom guest shots. And even though Doom, is no where to be found on this mighty splash, dare I say; "Who cares"! What an awesome splash! You don't even need Doom here". (*please; just don't tell The Master I said so*)

Wow! What a superb Submariner opening splash! It's practically a lesson in human anatomy by the ultra-talented John Buscema! This is way better better, IMHO, than most Sub-Mariner covers!
